KINNERSLEY KENT DESIGN

Sarah

Yesterday we held a presentation over a Lunch & Learn for the lovely team from Kinnersley Kent Design, hosted by our Commercial Sales team, Jasna and James.

As we always strive to give our visitors a real “taste of Sweden” when they visit our showroom, it’s only natural that we choose to serve authentic Swedish open-faced sandwiches, handmade by our favourite caterers at Smørrebrød!

MODERN RETRO

Sarah

We’re loving deep emerald greens in combination with smokey brown wood and contrasting whites and brass. Interiors inspired by the iconic mid-century modern era and its nature-focused colour and material palette. Where the linear meets the organic – blurring out the lines between feminine and masculine. An interior that creates a sense of cosy comfort and timeless sophistication at the same time.

Our new Floor of the Month Kährs Oak Smoke has beautiful tobacco-brown hues enhanced by its richly smoked finish. Each board is carefully brushed to bring out the character of the grain and highlight the natural texture of the wood.

We are now offering with a special 20% discount on Kährs Oak Smoke during August 2017. Contact us for more information.

MAKITI MILA

Sarah

We are really loving how Dubai-based food photographer Makiti Mila created this lovely flatlay of the “Green Gazpacho Goodness” recipe for Spinneys Dubai, and staged it beautifully on top of our rustic grey Kährs Maple Bruma wood flooring. The combination of colours and textures is perfection!

19TH CENTURY APARTMENT

Sarah

Last week we got the chance to stay at a recently renovated apartment in Stockholm, Sweden, which had a generous influx of natural light through large windows, high ceilings and open spaces, beautiful wall colours by Jotun paints, elegant high skirting panels and our rustic Kährs Oak Sture wood flooring.

The apartment lies within a building that was built in 1883, and although it has recently been renovated, the owners have made sure pay homage to the charming old features while giving it a fresh and updated look.

Classic muted tones in greens, greys and browns have been used, while all ceilings, fixtures, frames and mouldings are kept white – enhancing that airy feeling that ties together the space. The use of contrasting materials (e.g. natural wood, stainless steel and marble) creates depth and a layered feeling. Inspiration deluxe!

DINA FÄRGER VAR BLÅ

Sarah

We’re currently having Swedish singer Tommy Nilsson’s hit “Dina Färger Var Blå” (a classic summer song) on repeat, dreaming of the beautiful Swedish summer!

And one of the most iconic summer spots in Sweden is the beautiful island Gotland, known for its medieval architecture, rugged beaches with azure waters lapping the shoreline, sand dunes and mile upon mile of beach with panoramic views of the Baltic Sea.

And therefore, this month the colours we’re loving are the azure blue, creamy white, sandy beige and stone grey colours of Gotland.

Our Floor of the Month for July, Kährs Oak Dew, is the perfect ode to the Swedish summer and rustic nature of Gotland. It’s white oil patina enhances the distinctive texture found in the oak for a fresh, coastal look. It’s the perfect floor that will warm up a more modern scheme while it’s rustic nature will accentuate a more “country” interior. A truly versatile floor that works for any scheme.

ALL-WHITE

Sarah

This apartment in the sustainable Hammarby Sjöstad in Stockholm features very bright, light-filled interiors and elegant luxurious textures in wood, marble, velvet and brass.

The Kährs Oak Limestone wood floor enhances the natural light in the apartment with its whisper-white finish and clean and even expression. Each board is carefully brushed to bring out the character of the grain and highlight the natural texture of the timber. The matt lacquer finish eliminates glare while protecting the wood from daily wear.

TESTIMONIAL: RITIKA

Sarah

We all know renovations can be a bit daunting, messy and quite costly. Therefore, our goal is that our clients’ experience with Nordic Homeworx and investment in a Kährs wood floor will be a positive one.

Our boutique-style concept, combined with our Swedish ethos, means that we cater to our clients in a more personalised manner. We focus on our clients’ individuals needs, where our main priority is their satisfaction with their experience with both our service and with their Kährs wood floors – before, during and after the installation – including coordinating and cooperating with other works ongoing during the renovation process.

That is why we are starting a series of client feedback posts to highlight some of our wonderful clients and their beautifully transformed homes in Dubai. We hope their genuine words and beautiful homes will inspire you to transform yours as well!

The first in the series is Ritika. She selected the luxurious, nearly black Kährs Oak Java wood flooring for her Jumeirah Islands villa which works perfectly as a contrast to the stark white walls and mouldings. Ritika designed all the interiors herself- renovating the villa into a harmonious home for herself and her family.

BEFORE AND AFTER

Sarah

Last week we visited our client’s apartment with our trusted partner Studio Zee for a photoshoot of their newly renovated home. We had been to the apartment back in November 2016, before renovations began, in order to get some before shots – and we are so happy we did because what a transformation it was!

Here are a some before and after pictures of the client’s apartment in Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai:

As you can see, the client made huge some pretty big changes in their apartment – including going from the standard tiles to our natural Kährs Oak Verona wood flooring. We love!

SWEDISH BREAKFAST FIKA

Sarah

Yesterday morning we had an intimate Swedish Breakfast Fika in our showroom. Fika is a concept in Swedish culture with the basic meaning “to have coffee”, often accompanied with pastries or cookies. As it was breakfast, we arranged some Swedish delicacies from Dubai-based catering company Smørrebrød – including open sandwiches with diverse toppings such as Swedish meatballs, gravadlax and Cambozola cheese; and traditional cinnamon buns and cookies.

With regards to the styling, we wanted to create a natural, Scandinavian feeling that ties in with the overall feeling in our showroom. Contrasting materials, such as linen and rustic wood, complement each other so well and create a cozy feeling. Natural materials and creating beauty in the contrasts was our main inspiration for the styling.

For the Smörgåsbord (buffet), we used a graphite grey linen tablecloth to soften the wooden bar counter and wooden trays to serve the food on. For the table setting, we had black stoneware plates and ivory linen napkins from Crate & Barrel – decorated with wild forest florals from Bliss and personalised butter knives from Småland tied together with jute rope. This simple combination creates a natural, nordic spring feeling.
