BLUSH // ASH

Sarah

Loving the combination of blush tones and a lively 3-strip ash wood flooring in this apartment via Alvhem ūüíē

For a similar look, we suggest combining Jotun’s¬†Warm Blush (2856) wall colour with our 3-strip K√§hrs Ash Skagen wood flooring.

VINTAGE DECO

Sarah

This lofty apartment in Stockholm by Historiska Hem boasts big windows and an industrial feeling that we love. The deco has been kept minimalist but with plenty of vintage elements. The home is cozy despite its bare, industrial base, with the help of the white-washed wood floor and a combination of textures, giving a very homey and comfortable feeling to the space.

To achieve a similar look, we suggest our beautiful Oak Paris wood floor by Kährs Capital Collection. Only the finest oak is selected for this exclusive 1-strip/plank floor, and the natural wood characteristics are enhanced by brushing and microbevelled edges, and a slight white-washed surface.

NEW METALLICS

Sarah

Metallics are really on trend for Spring 2016, as seen on the international fashion runways and in fashion stores. For example, Spanish brand¬†Mango just released a new campaign called “New Metallics” starring¬†supermodel Karlie Kloss that we’re loving, featuring lots of metallic¬†shine, layers and texture. Swedish fashion-house Acne has also released a metallic silver version of their famous “Adriana” sneaker. Even the renowned Swedish brand¬†string¬ģ¬†has released a limited jubilee edition¬†of their iconic¬†pocket¬†shelf in a stainless steel finish, which feels very on trend for 2016.

The influence¬†of fashion trends in interiors is undoubtable, and though we’ve seen some metallic accents in the world of interiors for the past year, with lots of focus on brass and copper, this time, we want to focus a bit more on silver metallics reminiscent of outer-space.

We are loving¬†the¬†combination of metallics such as silver and minimalistic black and white interiors, creating an updated sophisticated-cool Scandinavian look. A pure white wood floor, such as Ash Blizzard by K√§hrs Lodge Collection, is reminiscent of typical white-painted pine wood floors we often see in Scandinavian interiors. Although it’s a 2-strip floor, its¬†pure white stain and¬†bevelled edge along the borders together create a nice and clear definition of each board, giving it a luxurious 1-strip appearance and a classic Nordic¬†look.

BLANCHE

Sarah

Blanche. White. Hvid. Vit.

It comes as no surprise that white is known as the universal colour of peace and purity. Nor that it projects cleanliness and neutrality.

White is wonderful, and always adore seeing it in the design world, whether if it is kept as solid colour scheme in a space, or used to neutralise and balance out the stark contrast of vibrant hues. White allows you to draw back to your inner calm.

Kährs Ash Blizzard is a purely white stained wood floor with microbevelling to enhance and define each plank, creating a luxurious look and feel.

VINTAGE FLOWER CHILD

Sarah

Decorate your child’s room with dusted pink florals set against a clean white contrast (e.g.¬†a crisp white wood floor like K√§hrs Ash Alabaster) to create a calm, vintage and nostalgic feeling¬†in the space. Decorating in this romantic¬†neo-floral¬†bohemian style is not only very on-trend and cool; it is also a design scheme that is guaranteed to evoke happiness and inspiration from your child.

WINTER IS COMING

Sarah

Cooler temperatures, shorter days, rain, cloudy skies and fresh air.. It’s been a long, humid summer and we are thoroughly enjoying the lovely weather we are having at the moment.

Winter is coming, so snuggle up on your sofa with a comfy throw, a good book and a hot cup of tea/coffee/cocoa and imagine it’s snowing outside (perhaps with a little help of your AC) and begin dreaming about possibly the most festive month that lies ahead of us: December!

However, there’s one thing I strongly believe in when it comes to interiors, and it is that dark does not have to mean cozy. I say, opt for lighter neutral colours ranging from the purest white to patina brown tones for a cozy Scandinavian winter feel in your home (after all, they do know a thing or two about winter).¬†By keeping the colour scheme neutral but adding different textures and tones, you will create depth and warmth, and in turn, coziness. Yes, layering is equal to warmth, even in interiors.

Combine a natural light wood floor (Kährs Ash Sandvig radiates Scandichic), sheepskin (available at e.g. IKEA), knit throws (Pottery Barn has a great selection), fluffy cushions and perhaps the most important element: mood lighting. My tip? Do yourself a favour and disconnect your ceiling lights. Invest in floor lamps, table lamps and lots of candles to create a cozy and relaxing atmosphere in your home.

NORDIC GLAM

Sarah

Add everyday glam to your space by adding gold accents to monochromatic white, grey and black colour scheme.

By creating a crisp white base with natural wood flooring and the golden accents to a minimal, you will have less of a nouveau riche, and more of a timeless nordic glamour feel in your space.

Cozy it up with Oak Valois by Kährs Heritage Collection with its pale golden hue or go clean-and-crisp white with Ash Alabaster by Kährs Harmony Collection.

A HOME WITH A TEAL TWIST

Sarah

Ash: a strong, hard wood species, even harder than Oak. This wood species is pale in a typical Scandinavian way with fine, brown streaks and few discreet knots. It has a relatively long grain and ambers over the years. Ash is used to make tools, wood flooring and furniture. Some of Kährs Ash floors have strong colour variations that really bring them to life.

Kährs Ash Skagen, seen in this beautiful home, combines the naturalness and liveliness of ash with the elegance and lightness of white matt lacquer. The white matt lacquer highlights the wood’s natural beauty, giving the whole floor a soft and pleasing finish.

On another note.. that teal blue staircase! Such an unexpected and fun detail, we love it!
