CLASSIC SCANDINAVIAN

Sarah

Lovely deco inspo via Fantastic Frank

We love the classic Scandinavian look of this home in Stockholm, Sweden with its light herringbone wood floor, bright interiors and neutral tones.

The home comes to life with an abundance of green plants, lively artwork and diverse textures. Brass and marble details add elegance.

GREVGATAN 35

Sarah

This apartment in central Stockholm, Sweden by ESNY has dreamy interiors! We love the aged herringbone-patterned oak wood floor (like our rustic Kährs Oak CD herringbone wood floor) and the classic earthy-toned interiors with a feminine touch.

VINTAGE DECO

Sarah

This lofty apartment in Stockholm by Historiska Hem boasts big windows and an industrial feeling that we love. The deco has been kept minimalist but with plenty of vintage elements. The home is cozy despite its bare, industrial base, with the help of the white-washed wood floor and a combination of textures, giving a very homey and comfortable feeling to the space.

To achieve a similar look, we suggest our beautiful Oak Paris wood floor by Kährs Capital Collection. Only the finest oak is selected for this exclusive 1-strip/plank floor, and the natural wood characteristics are enhanced by brushing and microbevelled edges, and a slight white-washed surface.

LOFT LOVE

Sarah

We absolutely love the look of this loft apartment. Creating a loft feeling means keeping the decor fairly minimalist, while using diverse raw materials for a textural and tactile variety. Create contrasts with a common denominator – preferably selecting materials with a slight vintage essence to them that converted old factory spaces often have to them.

The key, however, lies in the foundations- meaning the floor, the walls, the influx of natural light as well as the overall architecture and working around these to create an authentic loft feeling. Kährs Vedbo (pictured) has a natural oak colour with enhanced contrast and warmth; and golden tones from honey and ripe rye during harvest time.

We suggest combining the rustic Kährs Vedbo wood flooring with a White Brick wallpaper by Mr Perswall (D.Tales), a funky Molecular Pendant Lamp by House Doctor (The Bowery Company), and other neutral furniture and decor. Allow for pops of colour – in limited quantities – displayed in artwork, such as pop-artsy posters (Gallery One).

A great general tip for artwork is to invest in some nice frames with real glass. Light will beautifully reflect off the glass, increasing the sense of space and light while showcasing and enhancing the art displayed. You may also choose to leave your frames on the floor rather than hanging them on the walls- leaning them casually against a wall and stacked one in front of the other.

CLASSIC HOME

Sarah

This apartment by Oscar Properties in Stockholm has classically elegant interiors that we love. The interiors are a combination of traditional and modern Scandinavian classics with lots of brass, copper and wood elements; and a muted colour scheme with white, grey, black, beige and brown as the base.

What ties it all together is of course the 1-strip wood floor with its beautiful warm white colour that feels inviting and cozy yet enlarges and unites all the spaces at the same time.

KRUKMAKARGATAN 24

Sarah

This apartment in Stockholm, Sweden is super inspirational! We especially love the minimalist kitchen with black cabinets and stainless steel accents, and the cozy eating area by the window with a social “bar table” feeling and views over the street below.

In order to maximise the natural light of the space, the owners of this home have not applied any heavy drapes or curtains to the windows, and have softened the quite angular and sharp-lined space with lots of natural green plants and textures.

Because the home has a relatively open-plan kitchen towards the living room – with minimal walls diving the two spaces – it is perfect that they have laid the same natural oak wood flooring, similar to our Kährs Oak Jersey wood floor, throughout the two rooms to create a continuous flow. Kährs Oak Jersey is a 1-strip floor in selected oak. The bevelled edges help to create a floor whose look and feel recall bygone days.

ABOVE THE CLOUDS

Sarah

This penthouse in Emirates Crown in Dubai Marina is one of our favourite projects of all time. Designed by Marie Laurent Architecture, the home features carefully curated iconic designer furniture and art, as well as an incredible view over Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah.

The open-plan design and natural light of the space enhances the natural beauty of the massive planks of our rustic 1-strip Casa Oak wood floor by Kährs Grande Collection. Each plank is an impressive 2800 mm long and 260 mm wide, thereby giving a maximal feeling of the oak’s texture. This floor certainly lives up to the collection’s Grande name!

PATTERNED FLOORS: MIX & MATCH

Sarah

This Fantastic Frank apartment in Stockholm, Sweden shows us how beautiful it is to combine wood floors with different patterns in a single space.

Though we do not often recommend doing so, it can be both an interior design enhancement as well as a clever way to add more interest to the space. However, we do recommend keeping the colour tone of the floors the same, or very similar. The reason for this is that by keeping a unanimous colour tone, you will add a sense of harmony and peace in the space.

This apartment contains two different wood flooring patterns – herringbone and Dutch. These two classic patterns create a sincerely elegant, effortless and timeless feeling in the apartment, and when combined, do so even more.

The oak wood floors are both stained and aged to a beautiful brown colour, which unites them, despite half the apartment being in one pattern and the other half in another. It’s that overall holistic feeling that is created that we love!

For a similar look, we recommend choosing our herringbone floor, Kährs Oak AB; and our Dutch-patterned floor, Kährs Oak Palazzo Rovere.
